My Dearest Sweet Camille,
As I write you this letter, you are being snuggled inside your mommy’s tummy. We know you must love it in there because you’re apparently having a solo dance party 24/7, but soon it’ll be time to meet us face-to-face. That’s when the real fun starts and you’ll get to meet all the people that love you so much. Oh, and by the way, if you think the climate and temperature changes in there are crazy just wait ’til you get out here. And yes, I’m very aware that your mommy’s body heat turns up to a degree only a kiln can reach when she sleeps.
You’re growing like crazy right now and a few months ago you grew ears so you could hear us say how much “we love you.” That’s why we read you books every day. Your favorite one that we read to you, the one you always move around during, is called The Bible. That’s a special book and you’ll learn why soon.
A couple weeks ago we got to see your eyes and your beautiful eyelashes. I still can’t believe how long they are already! We can’t wait to see your eyes starring back at us and watching them squint as you smile and laugh (we’ll be doing that a lot because your mommy is HILARIOUS)! Once you’re able to open them up out here you’ll get to SEE how much we love you too.
You’re also going to get to see these bazillion outfits you have that are taking up all the room in our closet. Your mom also bought you some pretty funny cloth diapers. Just wait until you see them. I’m telling ya, your mommy has an awesome sense of humor and I can only hope that you take after her. I put together your stroller that you get to ride in when we go for jogs and walks around the park where you’ll get to see other children too.
There are a lot of other children in this world, but you’re going to live a life that most children only dream of having all because your mommy and I made a choice not to settle for “normal.” We’re very fortunate to have friends that opened our eyes to something better than going to work every day after dropping you off at a daycare. You’ll never know that life my sweet little girl and you’ll never know the inside of a daycare. Instead of paying someone else to raise you, we will be the primary influence in your life because we will be full-time parents. How cool is that!? That means we’ll have even more fun time together!
I know we are going to have a lot of those fun times, but I’ve got to tell you that your daddy was scared when we found out that God gave us you. Your mommy and I prayed and promised God that when He was ready to give you to us that we would be ready too. My fear was not that we weren’t ready to take care of you. My fear was that I did not know how to do the best job of raising you to find the man that will take the best care of you one day. You see, the day will likely come when I hand you over to someone else, but don’t worry… I will always be your daddy. By the way, while we are on this subject, if you want to join a convent then you will make things a lot easier on me. Devoting your life to God by becoming a nun is a very noble vocation. 😉
Although I was scarred, I want you to know though that in the past few weeks I realized that I am not scared anymore. I know exactly what I have to do. If I want you to marry a man that’s going to treat you the way you deserve then you need to see me treat your mommy that way. I have to be the man I want you to marry. I have to go to mass with you every week and make sure we read God’s word together. I’m going to have to take you on dates so you have an example of how that should go (I’m very excited about our first one!). I have to live my life out as an example of the Godly man that will take care of you one day. Believe me when I say, your daddy is going to set the bar high my sweet pea.
We love you so much and we cannot wait to hold you and we get to do that in only 7 more weeks!!! BUT please don’t get too excited as well and come out to hug us early. Seven weeks isn’t that long Camille. You can hang in there. We’ll see you soon my love, but now it’s time to read you your favorite book again.
P.S. If you want to sleep through the night so that mommy gets a good night’s rest I promise she won’t be upset by that. 🙂
There are many things in life that I don’t understand. One of those things is watching people live life within a revolving door and them be okay with it. You know, the person that gets up every morning to get dressed in clothes that they buy for work, drive through traffic in a car that they are still paying for, in order to get or keep a job that they need so they can pay for the clothes, car and the house that they leave empty all day in order to afford to live in it. You know that person… it’s YOU!
The reason it’s hard for me to understand is because I cannot stand living in that revolving door so it’s nearly impossible for me to understand anyone being okay with that. So I started thinking, if I can’t imagine anyone actually being okay with that lifestyle then conversely most people would be okay with being multi-millionaires and living life the way they wanted to instead of on someone else’s terms. So I decided to ask my friends if they would be willing to break the cycle of going to their job every morning to work all day to pay for all of their indebtedness and have that time stripped from their family, but I asked it in a semi-coded way.
I posted a series of questions on my Facebook wall recently titled “The Multi-Million Dollar Questions” and received exactly the response I thought I would receive. The series of questions basically asked, and I’m paraphrasing, if the reader would like to be a multi-millionaire. There is another reason why I asked those questions, which I would be happy to discuss with inquiring minds, but first I’d like for you to read the questions carefully and answer them for yourself. I would also love to read some of your additional comments. I’m going to do a follow up post with the answer totals. So to make sure that you don’t miss it, SUBSCRIBE on the right.
QUESTION 1: If a multi-millionaire told you his secret to success was by doing only THREE simple things consistently and that if you did those three things that you could be a multi-millionaire too, would you do them?
Caveat: The three things do not include anything immoral or that would jeopardize your faith, family, friends, health or career.
QUESTION 2: The multi-millionaire tells you that it may take some time to earn several millions of dollars a year, but the more you do those THREE things the better you get at them, which means the better your results and the faster you can become a multi-millionaire. Would you do those THREE things as often as possible?
QUESTION 3: The multi-millionaire tells you that there are a few other things that have helped him get to where he is, but those things are not exclusive of the THREE things he has already mentioned. In fact, he tells you that you could become a multi-millionaire without the extra few other things that have led to his success and by only doing the THREE things he has already mentioned. He tells you; however, that if you did the few other things, you can achieve his monetary status even quicker and that you can sustain that monetary status for your lifetime. Would you do the few extra things with the same caveat as above?
QUESTION 4: What if I told you that I can tell you what those THREE things are? Would you be interested?
Mariah and I recently went over our GOALS for 2015 after she read “The Magic of Goals” by Ron Reynolds (the creator of the DebtBuster System. This was a first for us, although that may not be hard to believe because we’ve been married for less than a year at the time of this post. I’ve set goal in the past, but not yearly goals. Now we’ve set them because we know that it’s hard to hit a target that doesn’t exist.
It’s hard to hit a target that doesn’t exist.
We sat down and started making a list of things (not just tangible ones) that we wanted in our lives and things that we didn’t want. You have to clean out the junk and clutter to help you laser focus on hitting your goals. You have to be about actions and not distractions. You also have to have the right actions. Actions create the illusion of progress. Just because you’re acting, doesn’t mean you’re being productive. So make sure your actions are leading you closer to your goals.
Here’s an Example of “Some of the things we DO want in our lives”:
- Financial Freedom (thanks to AdvoCare we have eliminated over $120,000 of student loan and credit card debt in just over 2 years. So we are well on our way!)
- Personal growth
- More prayer time
- More service to our church
- Go to Disney World
- Get a King-sized bed
- To purchase out “long time home” to be settled
Some of the “things we DON’T want in our lives” include:
- Cable T.V.
- Negative news media
- Getting comfortable
Both of the above lists are much longer. I only added a few in case you wanted to get ideas for your own lists. After we made our lists we each made personal goals and then made our business goals together. I broke my goals into “Personal Goals,” “Physical Goals,” and “Spiritual Goals.”
One of my “Personal Goals” is to read 12 leadership/personal growth books for 2015 (that’s ONLY ONE a month!) My “Spiritual Goals” include:
- Praying to thank God every day first thing in the morning for waking up in a home and in a warm bed with the most wonderful wife and all the other blessings that He has blessed us with.
- Attend mass 72 times in a year (that’s every Sunday and 12 other days). Mariah goes pretty much every day. <—- Love that woman!
- Read 365 passages of the Bible (one a day) and study and research each of them.
- Tell Mariah that I love her every morning before we start the day
One of my friends challenged me to start some “Physical Goals” because he had set some for himself. So these are mine:
- 36,500 Push-ups (100 a day for a year)
- 36,500 Squats (weighted or not)
- 18,250 Overhead Press (50 a day)
- Get back to 185# Clean & Jerk
- Gain 20 pounds of muscle
ANNNNDDD what better way to start new physical goals than with a nutritional restart button! I like to always start my year off with the 24-Day Challenge and the coolest thing about 2015 is that AdvoCare has a NATION-WIDE CHALLENGE. Everyone is starting on January 7th and if you didn’t get the memo it’s NOT TOO LATE! You can start one ASAP! We love the Challenge because it allowed me to get my body ready to utilize the amazing performance products AdvoCare has, which helped me GAIN OVER 20 pounds of muscle and helped Mariah lose 7 POUNDS AND 7 INCHES in 24 days and go on to lose over 30 POUNDS by staying on the products! This year, as stated above, I’m going to put on that 20 pounds of muscle again after not working out for over a year and a half.
If you’re setting health goals for 2015, then I can’t think of a better way to start your new year off than with the 24-Day Challenge! The coolest thing is that you can get it at a discount!!! Who doesn’t love a discount!?
You can e-mail me if you have any specific questions and with the NEW Virtual Coach you will bet set for success. If you are interested in that discount membership, HERE is the link. Enrolling for the wholesale membership was a no-brainer for Mariah and I and as if getting a discount on the best products wasn’t enough, it gets even better. There are no monthly minimums, quotas, or autoships AND you get a box of Spark & box of Slam ($59 retail value) for becoming a member, PLUS your own free microsite where you can log in anytime you want to order with your own discount. I compare it to a Sam’s or Costco membership, except you clearly get much more and Sam’s or Costco don’t allow you to earn a Plan B income and they certainly don’t give you product just for becoming a member!
We are SO PUMPED for 2015 and this new year of goals. If you want someone to help keep you accountable, post YOUR goals in the comment section. Write them out and post them someone in your home where you are going to look at them EVERY DAY! It helps when your goals are staring you in the face. If you have kids, tell them. They’ll keep you accountable too! We hope everyone is going to make 2015 the best year yet!
